PW Synod of the Southwest Triennial Gathering

Nearly 100 Presbyterian Women in the Synod of the Southwest met for their triennial gathering at the Hotel Albuquerque at Old Town November 8–10.  The theme of the gathering was “Meeting God at the Borders.”  We learned about the borders in our Horizons Bible Study from PW Communications expert Susan Jackson-Dowd.  She shared with us “What’s New in PW?” and gave us great tips for better communication.  Other borders we explored were Mexico and immigration, Native American issues and personal borders – how we relate to others.  A great skit, “Colors of the Human Family,” let us know that we are all sisters.  During workshops some learned to paint pottery in the Laguna Pueblo tradition.  Sharon Oler told us that prejudice “Has to be Carefully Taught.”  The gathering was closed Sunday morning with worship and communion led by Rev. Sallie Watson.
